How this works, in plain language.

These terms cover using truefiredesign.com and the text message confirmation described below. Project work is governed by the written proposal and invoice you sign — where that paperwork and this page disagree, the signed paperwork wins.
Who you're dealing with
True Fire Design, a web design and digital integration studio owned and operated by JT Clark in Columbia, SC. Referred to below as "I" or "me", because that's literally who builds it.
Text message program
What it is: a single confirmation text letting you know your contact form inquiry arrived, plus my reply if the conversation continues over text. It is not a marketing program and there is no recurring campaign.
How you opt in: by entering your mobile number on the contact form and ticking the consent box. The box is never pre-ticked. Consent is not a condition of purchase — you can hire me without it.
Message frequency: one message per inquiry you submit.
Cost: I don't charge for messages. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan.
HELP: reply HELP to any message for assistance, or email Email me.
STOP: reply STOP to any message to opt out. You'll get one confirmation that you've been unsubscribed, and nothing after that.
Carriers: mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your carrier and device.
Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most US regional carriers. Your mobile number is handled as described in the privacy policy, which is to say it is never sold or shared for marketing.
Project work
Quotes and payment
You get a fixed price in writing before work starts. Packages and what each includes are listed on the pricing page. Unless the proposal says otherwise, a deposit is due before work begins and the balance is due at launch. Work that falls outside the agreed scope gets quoted separately before it's started, never invoiced as a surprise.
Timelines
Stated turnarounds — 7 days for a Spark build, 7 to 21 days for larger projects — start once I have your content, images, and access, not from the date you pay. Timelines assume reasonably prompt feedback. If content takes three weeks to arrive, the launch moves by three weeks. That's the honest mechanics of it.
What I need from you
- Content, images, and logo files you have the right to use.
- Access to domain, hosting, and any platform the site needs to connect to.
- A single decision-maker for feedback, so revisions don't contradict each other.
You confirm you own or are licensed to use anything you hand me. I'm not responsible for infringement claims arising from material you supply.
Ownership
On final payment, the site design and custom code produced for your project are yours. Third-party components, fonts, plugins, and stock assets stay under their own licenses. I keep the right to show the finished work in my portfolio and to reuse underlying techniques and non-client-specific code in other projects.
After launch
Bugs in what I built get fixed at no charge. New features, content changes, and ongoing maintenance are separate work, quoted before they start. Hosting, domain, and third-party subscriptions are billed by those vendors directly to you unless your agreement says otherwise.
Using this website
The site's copy, design, code, and images are mine unless credited otherwise. Client screenshots in the portfolio remain the property of those clients. Don't scrape, copy, or republish the site wholesale, and don't attempt to interfere with it.
No guarantee of results
I build sites on a technically sound SEO foundation, and I'll say plainly what that does and doesn't do. What it does not do is guarantee a ranking, a traffic number, or a sales figure — those depend on your market, your competition, and factors neither of us controls. Anyone promising you a number one spot is selling you something.
Limitation of liability
The website is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, my liability for any claim arising from a project is limited to the amount you paid me for that project. I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost data.
Governing law
South Carolina law governs these terms. If something can't be resolved by talking it through, the courts of Richland County, South Carolina have jurisdiction.
Changes
These terms can change; the "last updated" date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated terms apply.
